Mocube is honoured to present Yan Yan’s latest exhibition Water Garden Mirror. The exhibition will run until 6 November 2022.

Since graduating from school, Yan Yan have begun to extend my works into the category of abstract painting. I have tried applying acrylic paint on rice paper, collage of colour blocks on canvas, and other creative methods, which was a process of developing. The current work is a form of expression of lines. And the lines represent the bones of the work, which gives its strength. The work oscillates between abstraction and figuration. It is an outlet for Artist's self-narratives, yet a very particular expression. The thoughts of life, music, and poetry are the source of my painting. The unbalanced feeling of riding over a road patch by bicycle would prompt new body senses. This kind of invisibility, the direct yet subtle relationship between humans and nature, is the most fascinating. It is very important to establish a spiritual prospect in the picture and to conjure this character and quality above the vacant retinal gaze, like a philosopher using the help of logical concepts to deduce philosophical new propositions.
