The title of this project, "A Fictitious Midsummer Night", suggests a state of being I aspire to, which I try to represent through the medium of painting. Painting has its own language, known as the linguistic of painting, is often perfected and honed through practice. I use color, lines, and composition to render the subject I hope to express.
Among the paintings in this exhibition, there are chairs, stools, and many objects from my studio that are important and indispensable to me. Whenever I sit down on the stool, I'd let my mind run wild. If I see an image of a peach tree on social media, the color relationship between the peaches and the leaves is specific. Perhaps under the surface, there is also an underpinning psychological input on how to spend the long summer nights. When the peaches become ripe, I'd pick them to express my respect for the time passed.
