MOCUBE is pleased to announce the opening of the new exhibition, “Zhu Tian - She wished he would haul her up to the bedroom and fuck her” on July 15th, and the exhibition will continue to September 3th, 2017.

Doris Lessing had once expressed through the words of her protagonist, that when a public or social event happens to be severe and rare, it would become a matter of primary importance in an individual’s life. Borrowing this notion, Zhu Tian, however, chose to use mundane personal lives and events to project and reflect on the crux of our era.

Zhu Tian turned the exhibition space into an old- fashioned hotel corridor, this ambiguous space which is never regarded as a destination, had effectively eliminated personal identification, historical background and time. The uncertainty of time and space creates discomposure and intensity. Closed doors, suffocating corridor space, nameless invaders, as if the vast human society is running into an endless Mobius loop, waiting to be transcended. The fate of individuals and nations had all been thrown into the vagrant tumbling of our time.

Just like the characters in Zhu Tian’s adapted version of Some Rain Must Fall (by Michel Faber), divergence lies in front of us, castrating our courage, but life must go on. Is the corridor leading to rupture or a brand new beginning? The outcome remains unexplained.
