MOCUBE is pleased to announce the opening of the new exhibition, “ZhengTianming- Sweet Dreams Hotel” on March 4th,and the exhibition will continue to May 7th, 2017.

The exhibition will present the artist’s newworks from 2016, in which, shifts towards to ontology of painting from hisprevious emphasis on the theatricality and “opticallystimulating” ways of applying color in his paintings.In the obscure somber shade, the swarming brushstrokes activates certainromantic imagination, and certain inscrutable, distant light…

“SweetDreams Hotel is a small hotel across from my art studio. Looking out from thestudio window is a road, and on the other side of it is a small wooded area,where the Sweet Dreams hotel is tucked behind. It’sdifficult to find it in the daytime. At night, when I look out from the studiowindow, the neon light sign “Sweet Dreams Hotel” is particularly conspicuous in the dark.

There is a roll of windowsbeneath the neon light, and different lights are turned on everyday. Perhapsthe hotel business hasn’t beengreat, because the lights have never been turned on all at once. I bought apair of binoculars to look at the lit windows. Since it’s too far, even when the light is on, the window is still dark, andnothing can be seen through the binoculars, yet I know everything is stillthere.

I hope you have sweetdreams at the Sweet Dreams Hotel.”
